Creative Statement
My mixed media works are expressions of feelings and the reactions to the world as I see it. Color is a dominant element in my work and gives me the most pleasure as a painter. Whichever medium I’m working in my approach is intuitive and spontaneous. As an abstract painter its exciting to connect with my viewers, bringing them in to decide what they see. My work reflects life’s observations and experiences -all the textures, connections, and life’s rhythms that find me where I am today.
Biography
Diana is a mixed media artist who lives and maintains a studio along the coast of Rhode Island. She graduated from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She majored in painting working independently with noted artist Paul Zimmerman. Diana completed her education while raising her family. Her sons would often find her painting on her kitchen island when they came home from school.
Upon graduation she brought fellow artists and gallery owners together to start an art consulting business. Working with designers and corporate clients she organized art exhibits and helped businesses start art collections to enhance their lobbies and boardrooms.
After her husband’s retirement the couple realized a longtime dream and moved to Rhode Island’s shoreline. Finding more time to paint, she began connecting with local artists, joined several cooperative arts organizations and built a studio overlooking one of Rhode Island’s pristine salt ponds. Her paintings have been included in numerous solo, invitational and juried exhibits. Her work hangs in private collections throughout New England and New York.
